Florence is one of the world capitals of art lovers. Florence gave birth to the current renaissance and preserved the finest examples.
At the heart of Tuscany, Florence is surrounded by lovely hills dotted with cypress trees, bathed in soft light. How can such a natural beauty, such harmony could she be indifferent and not to influence the painters, poets and sculptors of the region?
Passport / Visa / Formalities
French nationals must be in possession of an identity document (ID card or passport at the national exclusion of any other document) valid.
Minors, even if accompanied, and regardless of age, must possess an identity document. Minors, unaccompanied by their parents and hold a single national identity card, must have permission to leave the country.
Transport
Florence is about 1:30 flight to Paris. Florence is served by major airlines (Alitalia, Air France, ...). There are few direct flights to Florence.
Two possibilities now:
Day, take the TGV Paris-Milan and then a connecting flight to Florence (1 train every hour).
night, take "The Palatino" or "Galilei" (reservations required and berths, tickets available at the station) or the legendary Orient-Express if you want to enjoy the "trip" of your life (about 2000 euros per no one ...).
The bus is a cheap solution. Eurolines offers departures from Paris and several provincial cities to Florence.
The car will be by far the best solution if you want to admire the Tuscan countryside. 80% of the journey is by motorway (Paris-Florence: 1,142 km; since Lyon 705 km).
Once the Mont Blanc tunnel crossing, take the A5 towards Aosta, then A4 towards Milan and the A1 to Florence (via Bologna). If you go through the Frejus tunnel, follow the directions Turin (A32), Piacenza (A21), then follow the A1 to Florence.
General
If you wish to be transported, go for city buses that roam the small Florentine streets. Ticket valid for 70 euros 1.20 minutes.
You can also get around by scooter, watch for pedestrians many in the city center.
Taxi: between 20 and 25 euros to connect the airport to the city center.
Florence is not so great, if you can, do not take the car. It's much more fun to browse the many paved walking and cycling streets. In addition, parking in Florence is almost impossible mission.
